Clinician
- Current valid registration with the National Regulatory body such as the General Dental Council or ministry of Health or similar.
- An accredited postgraduate qualification/degree in a dental subject (PGDip/MSc/PhD) or Presentation of a structured Clinical Portfolio (see Appendix VII for criteria).
- Satisfactory documentation of professional activities in at least 3 of the following domains:
- Clinical Practice
- Teaching and Learning including Mentoring
- Research
- Leadership and Management roles in Dentistry
- A current CV
- Two structured references from a fellow or senior fellow of BIORD or equivalent organisation including fellows of the Royal Colleges or FGDP.
Hygienist

- An accredited post-registration qualification or a higher degree in Dental Technology
- Teaching and Learning including Mentoring (including relevant CPD record duringthe last 12 months)

Nurse
- Current valid registration with a National regulatory body such as the General Dental Council or ministry of Health or similar.
- An accredited post-registration qualification or a higher qualification in dental nursing e.g. University Level 3 or higher qualification in Dental Radiography or similar, NEBDN or University accredited National post-registration certificates/diplomas for dental nurses.
- Satisfactory documentation of professional activities in all of the following 4 domains:
- Clinical Practice – relevant clinical activity presented in form of a structured clinical portfolio (see Appendix VII for criteria).
- Teaching and Learning including Mentoring (including relevant CPD record during the last 12 months)

- Two structured references from a fellow or senior fellow of BIORD or equivalent organisation including fellows of the Royal Colleges or FGDP.
Fellowship by assessment (in lieu of a relevant postgraduate qualification)

The assessment will be carried out by a representative of the BIORD Board.
- Portfolio of Cases.
- Reflective log of 100 completed cases of at least 12 months old.
- Full case, evidence based, documentation of 10 of the 100 listed cases. 1 of the submitted 10 cases will be examined as an online case presentation. The candidate will be notified at least 2 weeks before as to which case.
- 5 advanced treatment options incl. soft/hard tissue grafting, the GBR technique
- restoration of 2 OD/ Full arch
- 5 multiple unit bridgework
- 2 complex grafting ( GBR, Sinus Graft, onlay graft etc)
5 of the 10 cases submitted must be at least 4 years in function. These 10 cases should include:
- 100 listed cases should:
Include reflection and Learning
Include a reference indicating what type of case it is.
20/50 should be at least 3 years in function.
20/50 should be advance.
10/50 complex in nature.
50 listed cases should include:
200 individual implants at least 1 year old (for surgeons only).
200 individual restoration at least 1 year old (for restorative dentists).
200 individual implants and restorations at least 1 year old (Rest+ Surgical dentist).
Maintenace of Fellowship

- Senior Fellowship for eligible candidates will be renewed annually up on payment of fellowship subscription fees.
- Senior Fellowship eligibility will be reviewed every two years. Based on maintenance criteria.
- Maintenance/renewal requirements will be:
- Attendance to a minimum of one BIORD conference in every 2 years.
- Documented mentoring activity.
- Teaching and research activity.
- Produce 4 articles for the BIORD journal (2 per year), or 1 publication in a peer-reviewed journal (and a summary for the BIORD journal) in 2 yearly cycles.
- Per 2 year cycle; 4 lectures or poster presentations presented at a dental symposium, or a structured lecture/course/study club meeting, or 1 lecture/presentation in a recognised national or international conference.
- Contribute 1 article per year to the BIORD Newsletter
- Per 2 year cycle, if required, assess 3 members for Fellowship (online assessment).
- Per 2 year cycle, if required, peer review 4 articles for the BIORD journal.
